Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Visconti is showing the new Michelangelo pen at the Baltimore Pen Show this weekend. This is a new design for Visconti and it continues their use of geometric shapes for the barrel and cap designs. The Michelangelo uses a 36 facet cross section to make up the cap and barrel. The pen comes in two colors, blue and black. The black body has a rose gold trim and the blue body has a white gold trim.

The Visconti ‘Declaration of Independence’ Fountain Pen

Visconti uses their sophisticated scrimshaw technique to replicate the full text of the Declaration of Independence into the barrel of the pen. The writing is small, just large enough to be legible to the naked eye but still small enough to leave room to inscribe images of the founding Fathers who drafted the act. A specially engraved magnifying glass is included with each pen to pay closer attention to the intricate details.

All trims are made of aged sterling silver * and are elaborately ornate. The blind cap is intricately engraved with the American bald eagle, a symbol of Freedom. Inside the pen is a very special surprise: the mechanism of the plunger is operated by the Liberty Bell, an iconic symbol of American Independence.

The pen and magnifying glass are packaged together with a scroll in a special collector’s edition box made from American walnut wood. The top of the box is made from leather and is engraved with the names of the signatories from the historic act.

thanks,

Ron

Carbon Dream is a fountain pen limited edition to 993 units. It represents a milestone in carbon fibre workmanship – for the first time in pen history the fine carbon weaving has been cut into the characteristic design of the Ripple, a Visconti manufacturing icon. The transparent resin adds deepness to the pen and allows you to catch a glimpse of the famous mechanism of the Double Reservoir for which Visconti has obtained the American invention patent and all metal parts are turned on a lathe in titanium grade 5.

Thus this unique demonstrator pen joins the two technological materials par excellence – carbon fibre and titanium.
